Table of Contents Wizard for Confluence
Clickable outlines, numbered headings, and safer heading cleanup for Confluence Cloud pages.
Table of Contents Wizard gives long Confluence pages a clean, clickable outline readers can use on the page and in PDFs.
Authors can hide individual headings, choose how many heading levels appear, switch between bullet, numbered, numbers saved into headings, and inline layouts, and review heading changes before saving.
Key Features
-
Clickable page navigation: Every visible table-of-contents entry links to its matching Confluence heading, so readers can jump directly to the section they need.
-
Review changes before saving: Numbering, heading fixes, and heading text edits are shown for review with Cancel and Save controls before anything changes on the page.
-
One-click hide and reset: Open the controls to hide individual headings from the outline, then use Show All to restore the full table of contents.
-
Choose how much of the page to include: Use the H1-H6 buttons to choose how many heading levels appear in the outline.
-
Edit headings from one place: Use Edit to update the outline title and page headings from one place, instead of hunting through a long page one heading at a time.
-
Light and dark mode support: The app matches Confluence in light and dark mode while you edit.
-
PDF-friendly output: The table of contents is included in PDFs, and its links still jump to the matching sections.

Number the page itself
Use numbers outside the heading text when you only want the table of contents to show section numbers.
Use saved section numbers when the document needs stable references. Table of Contents Wizard shows a preview, then updates the headings only after you click Save.
Fix the outline before readers see it
Autofix reviews the page outline and previews a cleaner structure before it changes the page. If a page starts at the wrong heading size, or a subheading skips a level, the wizard suggests the right adjustment and waits for confirmation.
Cancel leaves the page untouched. Save applies only the changes shown in the preview.
Built for Confluence authors
A table of contents should stay easy to shape as the page changes.
Table of Contents Wizard keeps the everyday choices close to the outline: hide a section, bring everything back, choose how much detail to show, pick a layout, review page changes, then save when it looks right.
Pick the layout that fits the page
Use a classic bullet outline for reference pages, a nested outline for deeper pages, or inline links for short pages that only need a compact jump list.
Authors can change the layout while editing. Readers see the finished table of contents without the editing controls.
FAQ
Does Table of Contents Wizard change the page headings?
Only when you choose an action that changes the page and confirm it. Numbering, heading fixes, and heading text edits are previewed first, then applied after Save. Cancel leaves the page unchanged.
Can I keep numbers only in the table of contents?
Yes. Use numbers outside text when you want numbered outline links without changing the page headings.
Can I hide one heading quickly?
Yes. Open the controls and choose Hide next to that heading. Show All brings every heading back.
Does it work in dark mode?
Yes. Table of Contents Wizard is designed for Confluence light and dark mode.
